Swimming
Ali and Izzy didn't have kindergarten yesterday, and I was tending while Jessica worked, so Stephanie invited us to go to Sand Hollow Pool for the afternoon. The kids had a lot of fun, even the babies liked it. I didn't wear my swimsuit, because I thought I would just hold the babies...wrong. I got soaking wet anyway. It was fun. They loved going down the big water slide. They climbed up those stairs for 3 straight hours. One of the pictures is Izzy coming down the slide. I kept taking pictures hoping to catch them coming down, and she is the only one I got. It was a fun afternoon.
Nature
I love pictures of nature. I had a bunch of butterflies on my flowers this week. I tried to get a few shots of them...also, my fish had a baby. I am so excited. We now have 9 of them, so I guess "Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs" (that is what my 8 fish were called, because we had 1 white one, and 7 orange ones) now have an extra dwarf. We named him Sam. We were hoping to find 2 of them and name the other one Emily, but we only see 1 so far. They are the best pets. They come right up to the edge of the pond and almost eat out of my hand. Another one has now turned white. I need to study up on goldfish. Maybe they turn white when they get old?????
Lightening Storm
Last night we had the most amazing lightening storm here in St. George. We watched it for over and hour and then I tried to take some pictures. I made the mistake of taking them through the plexiglass (we have it above one of our window coolers in the upstairs bedroom) and so all the scratches in the glass show up. I should have gone outside but I am afraid of lightening, so it was hard for me to even sit at the window and take these. Some of the lightening bolts were so close. There was multiple strikes at the same time all over the sky. It was very bright and beautiful. I just had my little digital camera. Times like this I wish I had a fancy camera like Luann. I'm sure she could have gotten some great shots. On a totally different subject: We went to a movie last night called: "Fly Boys" (not the cartoon I have seen advertised) It was very good. If it comes in your area you should go see it. It was filmed right here in St. George. The trail and the park the boys go on with their bikes is the one right behind my house where we go walking. It shows our beautiful red mountains, etc. Parts of it were also filmed in Mesquite and Las Vegas. The father of the writer of the movie lives in Santa Clara by Brad and Stephanie. Brad (who is a helicoptor pilot now)says he flies all over the same places that they flew over in the movie.
Kindergarten
Here are some pictures I took of Ali and Izzy's first day of school. They look so grown up. They were a little nervous, but excited to go meet their teachers. They go at the same time but are in different schools. I can't believe that our second wave of grandkids are now in school. (for a long time it was just MaKayla, Alex, and Ellie)It has been 5 years since we had any start school.
2 Year LID
Doug and I went to Phoenix to visit Tonya and Kevin for their 2 year LID (Log In Date) anniversary of waiting to adopt Danica from China. We went to the Opening Ceremonies of the China Olympics with a bunch of their fellow waiting parents. We saw 3 little girls that had already been adopted and were back from China. It makes it more real and exciting, even though they could still have a couple of years to wait for her. For those of you who don't know, when they started the process it was a 14 month wait, and now has grown to 3 years and still the wait is still growing.... We gave them a couple of books and a doll for Danica. It was funny because Cassie (their dog) thought the doll was a rag toy for her! Even though it was 110 degrees out, we took some pictures of us in her backyard by the beautiful flowers.
Summer Fun
It has been 2 weeks since I took the grandkids to the new splash pad in downtown St. George. I just haven't had time to post the pictures yet. It was 104 degrees that afternoon. It took Gwyneth awhile to actually get in the water, but as long as her face wasn't getting splashed, she was okay.Alex and Ellie were a little bored. They had more fun at the new rec center, but they went along and helped with the little kids for me.I think next time, I will wear something I can get wet in and join them!!! Enjoy the pictures.
