Butch Cassidy - August 2026

When we drove home from Bryce Canyon, we took a detour and went to the boyhood home of Butch Cassidy. It was in a very pretty valley, and was very quiet and peaceful. It was hard to imagine how his life ended. I'm sure it was very tragic for his family .

Bryce Canyon Car Show - August 22nd, 2026

We went to Bryce Canyon so Doug could enter his '57 Chevy in the annual Bryce Canyon Fly In and Drive In. There were a lot of vintage airplanes there. They had an airshow. It was cool to watch. There were over 80 classic cars and trucks. Doug received 2 awards. One was the Hal P. Award. They said they chose his car because they loved the color of his car. He got the final big trophy, and it was the Commissioner's Choice Award. He was very shocked to win anything, but especially the big award. He said there were a lot of cars that he thought looked better than his, but the commissioner told him afterward, that he picked Dougs car . Doug realized after he met the commissioner, that he had been by and talked to him a couple times during the car show and was asking a lot of questions about how he restored it all himself. So I'm sure that is why he won. The other cars were beautiful, but most of them were just bought that way and they didn't do the work themselves. I am very proud of him for all the hard work restoring his car. It took him over 600 hours. We travel and go to a few car shows a year. This was one of my favorites. The people were all so friendly, and he enjoyed talking to them and answering their questions about his restoration!

Bryce Canyon - August 21st, 2026

We drove to Bryce Canyon today. We checked into Ruby's Inn. We met up with Heidi Jo . She is a friend of Jessica's. She lives in Tropic. She and her daughter met us and Heidi drove us to some cool viewing spots in the park. Then we went out for pizza with them. She works there in Bryce Canyon and knows a lot of cool facts that she shared with us.

Amelia - July 2026 - 25 Months Old

Here are some random pictures of Amelia this month. We got out the old blocks that our kids played with over 40 years ago, and she likes building and knocking them down!!

Puzzle - July 27th, 2026

We started a new 2000 piece puzzle 5 days ago. We worked on it for a few hours a day. It was a fun one to do. We like the larger puzzles with lots of things to find, and lots of colors.

Doug is 73 Years Old - July 23rd, 2026

Doug is 73 today! We went to see the Minions movie and we both fell asleep! We are getting old... We ate lunch at ZAO. We had family over for cake and presents. All the kids called him for his birthday.

Lagoon Amusement Park - July 20th, 2026

We decided to go to Lagoon while we were camping up this way. We (and Scott's family) reserved the campground, and stayed 2 nights. It is a nice campground, and really nice to be able to go back and forth during the day. It was a record heat wave while we were there. It was 106 degrees at the campground, and it was muggy. We started the day going out to breakfast in Layton. Gwyneth ordered the short stack, and it was the biggest 2 pancakes I had ever seen. They didn't even fit on the plate. We went into Lagoon at 10:00 when it opened. They all went on the old wooden roller coaster. I didn't want to. Then Doug went on the Screamer, and it made him so sick. It kind of ruined the whole day. He couldn't go on any rides for a few hours. After lunch, we went on the Terror ride , and Dracula's castle. We tried walking through Pioneer Village, but it was too hot. We felt sick, so we went back to trailer to cool down for awhile. When it cooled down to 90, we went back and went on new ride Primordial. It was fine until the last when it dropped us down, and we both got sick...We went back to RV for an hour and then we were determined to go back. We spent the last hour at Pioneer Village. I ordered a huge Funnel cake. Between the 2 of us, we could only eat half of it. We went through all the old pioneer shops and saw a lot of cool stuff. My favorite was probably the shop with all the old musical instruments. I don't know if we will ever go back to Lagoon, because it is too expensive for only going on 3 rides. But if we do, we will NEVER go in the summer againn!

Payson Lakes - July 16-19th, 2026

We drove 4 hours to Payson Lakes. We are in kind of a tight spot for our fifth wheel to fit. Scott, Luann and Ellie came and are in the spot across from us. We went on a hike to the Grotto waterfall. It was an easy hike and was nice and cool with the mist from the waterfall. Scott and Ellie climbed up around to the top of the waterfall.

We fished for a few hours but only caught 1 fish. Then we went for a 1.3 mile hike around the lake. We played games, and had a fire and had root beer floats. The next morning we fished by the dam and caught 3 fish. Doug also caught a Crawdad!! Not very good fishing this trip. It rained most of the day. We had Hobo dinner and S'mores.
