Father's Day Weekend - June 15-16th, 2013

We went to Scott's for the weekend. We hadn't been there for 7 months. The weather was beautiful. It was nice to get out of the heat. Doug and I went for an early morning 3 mile walk around the high school track and then all around the neighborhood. There are so many beautiful flowers around. They live in such a pretty place. So close to the mountains. They now have a chicken coop and 3 chickens and 1 rabbit. It was fun watching the kids play with the chickens and gather the eggs! We went to Ellie's dance recital on Friday night, and then the ballet Cinderella on Saturday. Jessica's family stopped by Saturday afternoon on their way home from their vacation, so we all had a picnic in the back yard. Sunday we went  for a drive up Provo Canyon to Bridal Veil Falls. We all hiked up to the falls. It was pretty hard hiking through the wet rocks. Near the falls, it was very wet and quite refreshing with the mist blowing off the falls. On our way home we stopped in Cedar and took Mom and Dad H. out to dinner for Father's Day. Then we stopped at Jessica's and looked at all their pictures from their trip. It was a quick but fun weekend. You can see all the pictures here!

Fishing!!! June 7-9th, 2013

We had a great time at Pine Valley this weekend. It was one of the rare times we went camping without the grandkids. It was very quiet. We fished for hours. They had just stalked the reservoir so it was full of TINY fish. We caught a lot of them. I did manage to catch one 18" Rainbow Trout. It is probably a record for me there. The trail system they have now is awesome. Both mornings I got up early and went for a 3 mile walk and watched the sun come up. Today I surprised 3 deer on the trail. I never saw any people out that early, so it was very peaceful. I kept stopping and taking pictures, and just explored all around. When the sun came through the pine trees, it made me think of the Sacred Grove. I stopped and  sat on a fallen tree and hummed the words to my favorite hymn "Joseph Smith's First Prayer".  (That was my church for today!!!) We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful area.
