Alex Turns 18! - September 19th, 2014

Our oldest grandson Alex, turned 18. He is a very talented violinist, and also excels in his AP school classes.  For his birthday, he took me to the Utah Symphony. We listened to pianist Yefim Bronfham play Brahms. It was a fun date! The Abravanel Hall is a beautiful building. The glass sculpture in the foyer is amazing. The view across the street was awesome. We could see the Temple.

Flooding - September 9th, 2014

In the desert, you wouldn't think we would have to worry about flooding. But we received over 2 inches of rain in a couple hours. Luckily for us, our yard slopes away from the house, so we were fine ins the house, but the kids playhouse and the back corner of the yard were flooded. It soaked into the ground within an hour after the rain stopped. The worst part of the city was between here and our shop. We couldn't get down the street. Some apartments had 4 feet of water rush in and ruin everything. Thankfully, no one was hurt!

Labor Day Weekend- August 29-31st, 2014

We went to Duck Creek for the holiday weekend! We took 4 granddaughters. We had a great time fishing, hiking, making S'mores, etc. On Sunday, we got ready for church and found out it had moved to a town farther away, and because we couldn't get there in time, we decided to go to the local Non-denominational church in town. It was a beautiful log building with over 10 stain glass windows. We were too dressed up. Everyone was in casual clothes. The Pastor was in Levis, with a jacket and tee shirt. The songs were very lively, and we all stood to sing each song. The Pastor talked about the book of Ruth from the Bible. We went into the Village for Pizza and Ice Cream one day. One evening after our showers, we watched "Voyage of the Dawn Treader". We went Geo Caching and had to hike a ways on an ATV trail. We had to search a few tree stumps, before we found the right one. The kids had fun trading things. For a craft, I brought paints and canvas for each of the girls. They all picked a spot out in the mountain, and did Plein Air Painting. They did great for the first time. It was fun to see their personalities come out in the paintings. The weather was perfect.
