We drove to Page to see Rocky play football. He is such a fast runner, and he did great. They won. He might be the smallest on his team, but he plays hard. It was fun watching him. We sat in the announcers booth with Brad and Stephanie.
Rocky's Game - September 30th, 2023
Red Rock Car Show - September 23rd, 2023
Doug has entered a few car shows this summer. Today he was in the Red Rocks Car Show in Santa Clara, and he took 1st place in his division, which was the Tri-5 (1955-1957 Chevy). I am so proud of him. A lot of people stopped by and said they loved his car, but he never expected to win a trophy.
Pomegranate Jelly - Sept. 21st, 2023
While Ellie was visiting this week, she helped me make Pomegranate jelly. I have had the frozen juice in the freezer since 2020, so I decided it was time to make some more. Also, we were on our last jar in the fridge. It was fun and very helpful having her here!! Today we made 49 jars. We still have enough juice to do 28-30 more!!
Camping in Pine Valley, Sept. 17-20th, 2023
Ellie came to visit for a few days, and we took her camping to Pine Valley. The first evening we caught 3 fish, and then we had a fire and cooked hot dogs, and S'mores. The next day we fished for awhile, and then Ellie and I watched "Somewhere In Time". It is one of my favorite movies. She wasn't too impressed with it. We went on a beautiful almost 3 mile hike up Whipple trailhead. It was very peaceful. It is the first big hike since my knee surgery 8 months ago. We found a lot of mushrooms everywhere. Maybe because of all the recent rain. We saw a few deer, and some small waterfalls. The next morning we caught 25 fish in 1.5 hours. Then we hiked Forsyth trail for 2 miles. It was hot and my back started hurting so we came back and fished again. We watched a movie called"Second Hand Lion", and then played Phase 10. The last day we went on the trail for an early morning walk, before we came home. It was fun having Ellie with us. I think she had a good time.
Riding Scooters - Sept. 16th, 2023
After the Temple open house, Doug and I changed clothes and bought Chick Fil A , and went to Confluence park to eat. While we were there we decided to try out the electric scooters. They are all over town. We keep saying we should try them. So we rented them for about 6 minutes to see how to use them. At first we couldn't figure out how to slow down or stop, but once we figured it out it was pretty fun. If it wasn't so expensive, I would love to go on them a lot more.
Temple Open House - Sept. 16th, 2023
Doug and I went to the renovated St George Temple open house. It is so different. They have added a whole new section on to it. It is very colorful and absolutely beautiful. We couldn't take any pictures inside, so I got these off the church website. It has an amazing spiral staircase that goes from floor to ceiling (like 5 stories high).
Emily's Soccer Game - Sept. 9th, 2023
We made a quick trip to Page to watch Emily play soccer. We took Andy out to Taco Bell before the game. It was fun watching her play. Her team won. Emily has her permit so she wanted to drive my car, so she drove us to Walmart to get a few groceries. She is a good driver. Then Brad cooked us tacos for dinner and we played cards.
Duck Creek - Sept. 4 - 7th, 2023
Doug and I went to Duck Creek. We are in spot # A7. It was nice and shady. It was only 65 degrees during the day. For the first time in years we were the only people fishing at Duck Creek. We fished for 5 hours and caught 28 fish. It was wonderful. For dinner, we went to Gary and Becky Colf's cabin for a bar -b -q. They have a beautiful place. Ir was great visiting with them. The next day we hiked back in to Aspen Mirror Lake. No one there either. (we switched and are only going camping during the week, instead of on the weekends with all the crowds) For dinner we made Hobo dinners, but we burned them and threw them away, so we ate left overs and watched a movie.
