I am so spoiled, and so blessed. I had to have some major foot surgery this week. I cannot put any weight on it for six weeks, and with three sets of stairs inside , that is very hard to do. Doug bought me an “I walk”. It has been a lifesaver for getting up and down the stairs. I also use crutches and a scooter. For the first week, I have to lay down 24/7. 45 minutes with my foot elevated, and then I can sit up for 15 minutes. It’s only been four days and I don’t know how I will do this for six weeks. Tonya and Kevin came and they have been helping Doug take care of me. They are all spoiling me. They know I like the house clean, and as I am lyiing here, Tonya is cleaning all the bathrooms, mopping all the floors , vacuuming , and doing all the laundry. It has been really nice not having to worry about meals, and to have somebody else cook though. Doug took me to my post op today, and I got to see the scars..The doctor said it is looking good.
Emily's quilt! February 5th, 2025
After 3 years, Emily finally has her denim quilt. She has worked on it a few times a year when she comes to visit. I had most of the squares cut out, and when she saw the quilt I made for Doug a few years ago, she said she wanted one. I told her she could make it. She was very excited. She figured the square pattern out on the floor to make sure she didn't have any the same next to each other. She sewed every square together by herself, and then would lay the rows how she wanted, and then she sewed them together. It ended up a lot bigger than she had first planned. Last fall when she was here we went to the store and she picked out the flannel for the back, and the yarn she wanted. We had to cut the back to fit, and she cut that all out. She even put a few pockets in some of the rows. She was hoping to have it finished for her 16th birthday, but that didn't happen. She is now a junior in high school, and has a job, and is in sports, and student council, so I wasn't sure this would ever get finished. Right after Christmas I decided to finish it and surprise her for her 17th birthday this week. Doug brought in my quilting frames, and he helped me pin it on, and would help turn it after every few rows. It was quite heavy so he had to help me move it around while I did the binding. I finished it 2 weeks ago, and yesterday we drove to surprise her. I was really hoping she wouldn't be upset that I finished it for her, but she loved it. I am so proud of her, and I think she did a fantastic job!!! I also made her a little photo album with all the photos over the years, and she is going to add the one from last night with the finished quit!!
Sam - Hiking - February 1st, 2025
We took Sam hiking up by the Dixie rock. It's always fun to get out hiking. It is very warm for February. In the high 60's today. I love how the rocks look like animals. I called one of them the Lizard... Then we went to the Desert Gardens and walked around. We also took him to the new trail by the old airport. We call it the Dragon's stairs, but the real name is the Black Hills Staircase Trail. There are 333 steps and 333 back down. We only went partway down.
Amelia - January 2025
Here are a few pictures of Amelia this month. She is now 7 months old. She weighs 11 lbs. 4 oz. She is starting to roll from her tummy to her back. She loves giving MaKayla kisses. They are starting to add solid food to her diet. She likes bananas. She sits up pretty good in the high chair. Grampy Doug bought her a Curious George, and hopefully she will like it when she is older! She is definitely a mommas girl. She screams when she can't see her mommy. She is starting to hold toys and likes her crinkly book that makes a lot of noise.
January 13th -16th 2025
We went to Cancun for a quick trip. We stayed at the Margarativille Island Resort. We just relaxed, watched the moonrise, sunrise, walked on the beach, layed out by the pools, ate lots of good food. We didn't go on any excursions, or leave the resort at all. It was a very peaceful trip. We had a little rain and humidity, but most of the time it was a nice breeze blowing through the palm trees!
