Hebron Cemetery

While we were exploring the other day, we made a detour to the old Hebron Cemetery. There are cracked and crumbling headstones. There were some of the original wood markers left. Over 90 percent of the headstones were for little children under 2, and a lot of babies born and died the same day. A lot of couples lost 3-4 children really young. So sad!!! Someone has made all new markers for the graves, but they left the old original ones in place. The most interesting ones were 2 headstones that were way over in the corner, alone and separated from all the rest. One was for a transient, and one for an Indian Squaw. Some of the dates on the headstones were people born in the 1700's! People didn't live to a very old age back then. I am older than most of them. It was a quiet, and windblown place...just like in the old movies.

Was there a special section labeled "Boot Hill"? It looks like something straight out of a spaghetti western.

I like the one that says 'Indian Squaw' and 'Transient' :)
