Grandparents Day - March 28th, 2016

Emily and Andy had Grandparents day, so Carol Bankhead and I drove to Page for the day. They had a program for all of us with traditional Navajo dancers. Then each grade sang to us. Then we split up. I went with Emily for the day, and Carol went with Andy. We spent the day in their classroom doing projects, and then we went into the gym and made crafts. We also got to eat lunch with them in the cafeteria. At recess I watched Emily play with her friends, and climb the rock wall. After school, we took them for ice cream. We dropped them off at home and drove back to St George. It was a  long day, but very special!!!

Lilly's 4th Birthday - March 28th, 2016

Lilly is 4 years old!! They came to our house for cake and presents. The theme was "Frozen". She got Elsa and Anna, and a new bike and helmet, etc. She was so excited!!!

Easter - March 27th, 2016

Jessica's family came for Easter dinner, and they hunted for Easter eggs in our backyard. The bunny hid them quite well....it took a few hints to find them all!!!

San Felipe - Day #5

I got up early to get a few pictures of the awesome sunrise. Every morning it looks like this!! After a quick breakfast, we cleaned the Cabana and closed it up until next time. Brad has to board up all the windows, etc.  We cover everything with dust cloths to help keep it nice for the next visit. Then we drove to our "Cactus" and took the traditional family picture. We had to wait for an hour to cross the border, so it took 12 hours to drive home. We separated with Brad's family in Mexicali. When we got close to Vegas, we saw the sunset. What a great way to end the perfect vacation!!!

San Felipe - Day #4

What an interesting 24 hours. Yesterday, we saw something floating out in the ocean, and when it got stuck on the rocks on our beach,  Brad's family walked out to it and it was a dead Humpback whale. We believe it was a young one. It was about 32 feet long. This morning when we woke up, the tide had big waves had washed it right onto the beach. It stunk so bad. We all went to see it. It was sad to see it like that, but also very interesting. Later in the day, the local fishermen (and Brad) used a boat and a lot of pushing from a truck, and they got it back into the water, and then they hauled it out quite a ways. We heard it landed way down on another beach, and they finally had the fishermen come and bury it. We spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach, and ended the night with S'mores!! The moon over the ocean is so beautiful. The waves were a lot bigger today and the kids had fun on the boogey boards.

San Felipe - Day #3

Today we walked to "Shell Beach" and collected lots of shells. We also flew kites, played in the water, played Frisbee, hit golf balls into the water (and went and found most of them when the tide was out. Izzy found a starfish and kept it for a little while, then she took it back to the water. The weather was perfect and the water was calm!!
