Doug and I ringing in the New Year 2010!!!

Here are a few pictures from the holiday. It was fun spending time with our family. For New Year's Eve we spent the weekend at Cable Mtn. Lodge in Zion Canyon. We played lots of games and went hiking and to a movie on the giant screen, and just had fun hanging out in each others suites. Hot chocolate out on the balcony looking at the massive mountain views was the best!!!! Our room had a fireplace and a jacuzzi. It was very cozy. It was very quiet and peaceful. It is the off season so hardly anyone was there.

Grandkids with the St Goerge Temple down behind them!

The day after Thanksgiving we took the grandkids to the Dixie Hill. (5 minutes from our house) and some of them had never been there. We could have spent hours there. They loved roaming around all the cool formations.

Hebron Cemetery

While we were exploring the other day, we made a detour to the old Hebron Cemetery. There are cracked and crumbling headstones. There were some of the original wood markers left. Over 90 percent of the headstones were for little children under 2, and a lot of babies born and died the same day. A lot of couples lost 3-4 children really young. So sad!!! Someone has made all new markers for the graves, but they left the old original ones in place. The most interesting ones were 2 headstones that were way over in the corner, alone and separated from all the rest. One was for a transient, and one for an Indian Squaw. Some of the dates on the headstones were people born in the 1700's! People didn't live to a very old age back then. I am older than most of them. It was a quiet, and windblown place...just like in the old movies.

Alize's Birthday

Ali turned 7 last week. Time is flying by. We went to their house for pizza, cake and presents. She liked the quilt I made her. I love being a grandma!!

Helicopter Flight

Doug was able to go to Brad's work and go on a free flight around St. George! They flew over our shop, but not our house. He said he was surprised at how many swimming pools are in peoples yards. It was a beautiful fall morning. I love having a son that is a helicopter pilot.

Pine Park

We went exploring today to a new place we haven't been to before. It is about an hour and a half from our house. The formations are from the ash from the Pine Park Caldera. The rocks were too hard to climb on. Brad got up on one but it was slippery, and the rock was crumbly. I have a video but I can't figure out how to upload it....Anyway, it was a nice day. We took the long way home though, and ended up taking hours to get home. It is an awesome place to take photos!
