Here are pictures of Amelia taken this month. She is off of oxygen, and is now in Newborn size clothes. She is starting to smile and goo. She is 4 months old!
Page Arizona , October 28-30th, 2024
We went to Page Az. for a few days to watch Andy, Emily, and Rocky play Soccer, Flag football, and Jr. Varsity football. I am glad that girls can play sports like flag football. It was so cold that we were wrapped up in blankets the whole time. The kids on the field were freezing in the cold wind. Unfortunately, Andy's game ended up getting cancelled. They each played on a different night, so while the kids were in school during the day, Doug and I went for a walk with the dog Snoop, and then drove around and got some pictures of Lake Powell. The picture of the Butte in the background is where Brad had to land a helicopter on top of it once. I was very impressed. (Sadly, while we were there we found out my cousin Gina's husband was missing. He was last seen in Page on Sunday. Doug and I spent the day yesterday driving a lot of the back roads etc. looking for his truck. We hope he is found soon.)
Rocky and Lilly - October 26th, 2024
We had Rocky here for the weekend. On Saturday, he helped us with chores. He helped wash the siding on the front of the house, and then he picked Pomegranates. In the evening we picked up his Lilly and we went to a Halloween party at our church. We passed out candy front the trunk of our '57 Chevy!! We dressed up as a Hippie family!
Yard Work - October 19th, 2024
Mandi, Sam and Lilly came to help with yardwork. They are going to come on Saturdays when we need them between now and Christmas. That is usually when we are finished with all the leaves, etc. They cut lawns, cut down dead flowers, blew up and raked leaves, trimmed Oleandars, picked some Pomegranates, etc. It only took 3 hours with all their help. They want to earn a little spending money, and it sure helped my back not having to do all that work. So it is a win win for all of us. Doug told them what he needed done, and I just fixed breakfast, and handed out drinks and snacks!!!
Switzerland - Day # 9 - October 7th, 2024
Today was a travel day. We had breakfast at the hotel, then we had an hour before we left for the airport so we went to the local COOP, and bought chocolate bars, and some cute little boots for Amelia. I wasn't going to buy souvenirs for everyone, but I couldn't pass these up. We took one last coach ride to the airport, then we had a 12 hour flight to San Fransisco. I watched one of my old favorite movies from when I was a kid. "How the West Was Won". We tried to sleep, but couldn't. We then flew to Las Vegas, and then drove 2 hours back to St. George. It was 102 degrees when we landed in Vegas, and 95 when we got home at 1 am. Kind of a shock after the cool air in Switzerland. It will be nice to sleep in our own bed, but I miss Switzerland already. I want to thank Doug for making this trip a reality. He worked hard to save the money so we could go. It meant the world to me. I will love him forever for this! And I would like to thank Morris Murdock Travel, and our sweet guide Wendy for arranging it all and making sure we made it everywhere on time. She was amazing!
Switzerland - Day # 8 - October 6th, 2024
After breakfast we took a short train ride to Pontresina. Here we took a 2 hour carriage ride to see the Roseg Glacier. It was sunny, but very cold. We each had a nice warm horse blanket though. It was a beautiful ride through the village and following a stream. There was fog on the mountains, and steam rising over the lake. The frost on the trees was enchanting. It is like little crystals on everything. It is called hoarfrost. I saw this a lot when I lived in Canada. After the carriage ride, we went on 2 trains, to get back to Zurich. It took 3 hours. We saw a lot of little villages, and a couple of Monasteries. This was our last train ride. In total, we took 17 train rides while here this week. We walked 2-5 miles per day. After we checked into our hotel, we had a few hours to walk around Zurich one last time. It was kind of sad knowing we were leaving. We found a yummy little bakery. I will miss the beautiful old buildings. We all met for a farewell dinner at the hotel. We have met some great people on this tour and made some new friends.
